Sydney’s Lizard Log Parklands Offer a Solar-Powered Weekend Getaway

Occupying an area of Sydney formerly known as Pimelea, <a href="http://www.westernsydneyparklands.com.au/" target="_blank">Lizard Log Parklands</a> is a perfect <a href="http://inhabitat.com/green-weekend-getaway-linda-aldredge-catskill-treehouse/" target="_blank">weekend getaway</a> for city dwellers. The redevelopment project, designed by architecture firm <a href="http://www.mcgregorcoxall.com/#/projects/84" target="_blank">McGregor Coxall</a>, offers spacious playgrounds, barbecue areas, walking and bicycle tracks, facilities powered by <a href="http://inhabitat.com/new-telescope-solar-panel-design-doubles-efficiency/" target="_blank">solar panels</a> and grassy plains irrigated with grey water.

McGregor Coxall have upgraded the park’s existing infrastructure.

The architects fitted out new facilities in an environmentally friendly way.

The design is sensitive to the rural nature of the site and is underpinned by a strong sustainable strategy.

Using recycled materials wherever possible, the architects have designed facilities which use energy generated by solar panels.

Part of the park is irrigated using grey water.

One of the many amenities is the children’s playground area which features a scramble hill, climbing boards, slides and fireman’s poles, with swings and spicas close by.
