Ochre Barn-Carl Turner ArchitectsThe Ochre Barn was once just an agricultural barn in Norfolk to the east of London, but it's now a modernist getaway for Carl Turner and Mary Martin of Carl Turner Architects. They bought the 150-year old farm and envisioned their dream vacation home -- a simple and open space surrounded by history. The adaptive-reuse and renovation involved shoring up the old barn and then outfitting the interior with pods and a slew of OSB finishings.1
Ochre Barn-Carl Turner ArchitectsThe long, low brick barn had long since fallen into disrepair when Carl Turner and Mary Martin snatched the farm up.2
Ochre Barn-Carl Turner ArchitectsThey wanted to create a simple getaway that spoke to the essence of the farm and the barn.3
Ochre Barn-Carl Turner ArchitectsThey treated the Ochre Barn as though it were a listed building and worked hard to maintain the original exterior.4
Ochre Barn-Carl Turner ArchitectsOn the inside they shored up the structure, added new beams and supports which created an intriguing engineered ceiling.5
