The Chimney House, designed by Marcio Kogan of Studio MK27, is a gorgeous open plan house that accentuates the sun. Located in São Paulo, climate can reach sub-tropical temperatures, so Kogan designed a home that encourages natural cooling with cross breezes. Named for the chimneys of the row homes in São Paulo, the home features several chimneys of varying shapes.

The ground floor of the two story building houses the living areas, kitchen, and entertainment room. The glass curtain walls open on either side, extending the outdoor space to the indoor, creating an effect of a home without walls.

Within the deck, trees are planted, providing shade throughout the deck area and fresh air which wafts indoors. Ivy lines much of the outside, including the rectangular window which bisects the length of the living room and supports the second floor.

The second floor section, above the living room, houses the bedrooms, which also open onto timber decks. Wooden brises soleil create privacy in the bedrooms, while filtering daylight inside. The master suite is adjacent to a timber solarium, which features a private fire pit for grilling or keeping warm.
