Immersed within Maine's deep forests is a tiny studio shaped like a cube. Petra Simmons Design, who followed the client’s desire for a painting studio and retreat space in nature, built the Harpswell Studio out of locally-sourced natural resources.

Immersed within Maine's deep forests is a tiny studio shaped like a cube. Petra Simmons Design, who followed the client’s desire for a painting studio and retreat space in nature, built the Harpswell Studio out of locally-sourced natural resources. Standing on stilts, the habitable wooden shelter causes minimal impact on the ground and blends beautifully with the surrounding environment.

It was built just a few hundred feet from a tidal creek, so the architect decided to place it on wooden stilts.
