Marfa, Texas is known as a community of artists, and quirky, unique houses like this tiny one are found in abundance there. The <a href="http://www.candidrogers.com/project_pages/Marfa.html" target="_blank">Marfa 10x10</a> is a stacked micro home that takes full advantage of the land for extra living space. Designed by <a href="http://www.candidrogers.com/" target="_blank">Candid Rogers Architecture</a>, the 320-square-foot home is an experiment in minimalism, daylighting and living in the West Texas landscape.

The Marfa 10 x 10 is a minimalistic dwelling retreat west Texas located in the artistic Marfa community.

Designed by <a href="http://www.candidrogers.com/" target="_blank">Candid Rogers</a> as a retreat for thoughtful repose, the tiny home embraces the site and the surrounding landscape.

The bottom floor holds an open kitchen/dining area backed by a bathroom.

A tight staircase leads up to the bedroom, which cantilevers out over the bottom floor, providing shade for the downstairs.

The upstairs features a huge picture window that looks out over the landscape and acts as a lens to the outdoors. The bottom two windows of the four are glazed for privacy and help reduce solar heat gain.

Behind the house is a large shaded patio that extends the living space far beyond the 320 sq feet inside.

Two flap doors open up from the kitchen/dining area to create a connected space.

The exterior is clad in cor-ten steel that will age and patina with time.

The Marfa 10 x 10 Lightbox won the AIA San Antonio Design Award, 2007 and the AIA National Small Projects Award, 2008.
