Spotted over on <a href="http://www.evolo.us/architecture/p-o-k-passenger-transportation-district-sun-and-associates/" target="_blank">eVolo</a>, the P.O.K. Passenger Transportation District features a gorgeous sweeping design coupled with a large roof-integrated solar system, an expansive <a href="http://inhabitat.com/green-roof/" target="_blank">green roof</a> and urban park, and the reuse of shipping containers.1
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictThe cruise terminal is located in the port of Kaohsiung, which is Taiwan's largest port city. The new terminal would accommodate growing tourism and give a bolder face to the city.2
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictThe new terminal would provide necessary infrastructure as well as a new urban park that merges into the existing urban fabric.3
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictFenestration would allow for ample daylighting inside the open and airy terminal area.4
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictSolar panels are integrated into the arched roof of the terminal tower to provide renewable energy for the facility.5
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictThe tower section of the terminal includes multi-functional space, a conference hall, and multiple levels of office space.6
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictThe lower section of the building is mostly sheltered by the green roof. It includes ample space for international and domestic visitors.7
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictAs Sun and Associates says about their project, "For the entirety of our project, we wanted to articulate the city’s culture and important features within the new Cruise Terminal and Port Service Center while providing the Center with flexibility and room to grow and change with the city of Kaohsiung for many years to come."8
P.O.K. Passenger Transportation DistrictThe project was inspired by the concept of the wave and incorporates the cruise port and terminal, with a public park, office building, and conference center, and many public functions.9
