  The indoor drying rack is a great concept. It looks like it would save more space than the collapsible indoor clothes lines I have seen used in overseas countries - where air drying clothing and saving energy is more commonplace. I would love to use a tool like this where I can take it outdoors on sunny days, and once the clothes dry, take it straight to the closet hangers. The rack even looks like wooden closet hangers. It's a great design that is fashionable, constructed well, and would give wet clothes the structure they need to dry so you can look your best .

  I've dedicated my life to sustainability. My Dad worked in the state government doing work for the department of energy. He was installing hydrogen fuel cells for various uses, such as powering buildings. He is now partnered with someone who is trying to market electric bikes, and he now publishes a weekly newsletter on California Onsite Generation. We own the two most efficient cars for their class. The ford escape hybrid (continuously various torque, gets about 30 mpg), allow what obama drives. And our other car is the world record setter for MPG. http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/06/hypermiling-honda-insight-hybrid-car-jack-martin.php It has the drag coefficient of a F-16. He has outfitted it with some custom controls, and is getting around 70 mpg. Our house has been retrofitted with energy efficiency: thicker insulation, a water heater that only uses energy when the water is running, solar panels, efficient appliances, sky lights and natural day lighting, vegetable garden, compost pile, and intelligent air flow control to get the most efficiency out of the power we use. Most of the house is off the grid, one panel is out right now and it'll probably be hitting a $0 energy bill soon. That said, I grew up in this environment, my parents both worked for the state. I didn't really understand why global warming was such an issue until I saw An Inconvenient Truth, my senior year in high school. It affected me so hard, I knew I had to do something about this problem, and dedicate my life to it. I currently live in Davis, CA, the first platinum bike city in the country, am an environmental pescaterian, close to becoming vegan, am studying landscape architecture to learn about sustainable planning and intelligent design. That said, I would love to have some renewable energy to power my gadgets. I'm a big fan of [electronic] technology, because I believe technology helps us to connect to the information that is relevant to solving today's problems, which brought me to here. I'm not saying I'm the most deserving, in fact I might even just buy this, but I would definitely make good use of it. I would help me get off the grid, which I think should be a goal for the modern man, for energy sustainability is not only an environmental issue, its a security issue. Stop using resources, make your own, and enjoy energy liberty!

  The Drying Rack is the best, only because of its simplicity and the othe inventions flaws. Pros for Drying Rack: Virtually uses ZERO energy and encourages an alternative to using energy in a drying. Everyone washes their clothes also so it is multigenerational. No one wears wet clothes and havent for hundreds of years. The Drying rack will stick around with not much deterioration if any. (If it was used of Recycled wood even better!) Cons of Others: Blinds and Coffee Printer---Not everywhere is sunny. Not everyone Drinks Coffee Kill-a-watt, Piggy Bank---- Dont eliminate energy usage just makes one more conscience of use. PIggy may encourage use of electricty if a child finds money. Toys that charge self-- Kid will out grow then what. Another Toy in the dump. All Great Alternatives to what is out there or energy consumption reducers but for the products given the Drying rack is the greenest and may be for years.

  I like the re-charger a lot but the coffee grounds printer has to eb my favorite. We drink a lot of coffee in my household-currently it goes tothe compost bin, but printing with it would be really cool!

  The Solar Blinds are a wonderful Idea. It would seem almost obvious to take something that is made to face the sun and affix a solar panel to it, yet these blinds are an innovative fresh take..

  The solar shades would be very useful for projects where--for whatever reason--it is not possible to use overhangs or external shading to protect South-facing windows. At least there would be aome payback for the heat gain!

  "Waste is food" from Cradle to Cradle is exemplified by the coffee grounds printer. There's some really icky stuff in conventional inks; halogenated carbons and other heavy metals ( and not the kind to bang your head to, but the kind that perhaps inspires you to bang your head against the wall screaming "why?! Why do we do this to ourselves?") We are in control of the products we use and design, we are extremely creative creatures. There are way better options for our health and planetary health than the conventional ones that have proven to be harmful and unsustainable. Homes and businesses can benefit from such a forward thinking gadget and benefit the environment at the same time.

  I'll vote for the blight. All the gadgeds are very interesting and I would like to own them all, but this one is the best for three major reasons: 1- It's usefull for everybody. Anyone can become interested in it, for it's design, it's beauty, it's economical and power saving side, it's tecnological side. It is really adapted to everyone's taste, even those who don't care about beein 'green' and sustainabilitty. 2- Altough all of them are sustainable gadgets, this one hasn't got jut the 'teaching' or awareness side. If on one had this sounds bad, on the other hand if it is not something usefull for classes or selflearning, it won't after become obsolet and a garbage issue itself. It will be always be usefull, even after the inicial thrill of owning it, it will remain green, usefull and beautifull. 3- It doesn't take your time, doesn't get on your nerves, you won't easilly decide to replace it. All the other gadget's are quite easy to replace after the inicial fun of playing with them. They all look like 'messy' and 'in your way', if you are in a morning rush, except this one. It seems it was something that was already needed before it existed.

  Blight (solar blinds) is my favorite of the competitors shown. I have blinds throughout my house and there are several spots where I would love to have a little ambient light but this is my fav greener gadget for other reasons as well. 1. It is an unobtrusive and potentially a very aesthetic use of underused space. 2. It is a multitask item - standard blinds allow light and heat in the house when open and maintain privacy, block unwanted light and air when closed by adding solar panels and luminescence you still have your privacy and block unwanted light out but you also gain ambient glow which I see as a benefit in all but a few situations. 3. It is a no-brainer item. Just install and go (or so it appears) I think this is brilliantly done.

  Ohmigoodness, I would LOVE the printer.....if it could be adapted for used tea bags instead of coffee grounds, since I don't drink coffee! So due to that minor detail, I'd have to make the solar blinds my #1 pick. I live in Denver, where solar power is - well, POWERFUL! I have blinds on every window of the house, and would eagerly replace them with this product. Finally, as a pediatrician, I am excited about any toy that makes movement and activity fun, and thereby motivates kids to put down the video games or skip the TV. I actually had a little boy once tell me that he doesn't like it outside "because there are no electrical outlets," and he's probably not the only one! So the Fasternaut gets an Honorable Mention on my list. Let's now make a Wii-like game that powers itself only by the player's activity!

  WOW! I currently compost all of my coffee grounds and feel like I've got some good karma coming my way for doing so!!:) Okay really though, I couldn't be more excited about the coffee ground printer as I've been reusing all of my scrap paper at home and in the office (my staff often get tired of that!) and with this gadget I think I've been able to come full circle in being sustainable at home and in the office in relation to printing. Bravo!

  This is a very cute product. It'd be great to take to the park or to the beach in summer. Imagining breeze from Hymini and not to worry about it dead under the hot sunshine makes me smile. When I think about how many small batteries I use for this small portable products, Hymini portable mini+Solar gaget charger are the perfect energy saving kit to save the energy and save the earth.

  The Hymini Portable Wind + Solar Gadget Charger looks like the best. I already have a Kill-a-watt meter. The coffee grounds printer is clever and interesting, but for flexibility the Hymini Portable Wind + Solar Gadget Charger seems the most useable and least likely to end up on a shelf somewhere, gathering well-intentioned dust.

  Hands down the Blight Solar Blinds, keeps the sun out during hot summer days and provides free light at night. Not only do you get free light you also reduce your electric bill and carbon footprint at the same time. These blinds would also come in handy during a power outage.

  Generally I carry around at least 2 gadgets with me at any time, so a spare charger is always the best idea for me to carry around. The Hymini would be perfect for me, being a solar charger and a wind charger. The size is ideal, being smaller than my current solar charger, it looks easy to pack and great for long trips (when I can't find an outlet for my phone or digital camera).

  Honestly all of the gadgets are great. I speak to different groups about various green topics and all of these items would be excellent to share, but I have to confess, I am a little selfish here - I really like the Hymini Portable Charger for myself too. One thing I learned from my parents was "lead by example". I try to live the greenest life I can and when people say "why bother", I can only say that I know that I am doing all that I can to save energy, water and live as environmentally friendly as I can, while educating a few folks along the way.   The solar blinds may not seem to store enough with their limited surface area, but I definitely think it's the start of a new green revolution. It starts with solar paneled blinds in one home, then millions of homes and soon enough, we're seeing all sorts of solar powered and "green" accents to our homes that we can only hope will start to reverse some of the damage we've done.

  I love the solar blinds! I think they make the most sense, since even those who don't care enough to stop using their dryer (and use the drying rack) or save their coffee grinds (to use the printer) or anything else that would be a drastic change to their routine, can just install these instead of their normal blinds. Being green may not matter to everyone, but saving some green sure does and this product will bring home energy costs way down.

  My choice is the solar collecting shades! These units have clean, modern lines. A very nifty idea of collecting the "blocked" sunlight. I would love to have a few of them in my energy-efficient house!

  My favorite would have to be the Blight Solar Blinds. I like the idea of integrating solar panels on a household object that already experiences so much sunlight. The great thing about it is that it doesn't require expensive wiring, special fitting, or take up any space. The biggest drawback is definitely price. Having many small solar panels, as opposed to one similarly sized one, is more expensive to produce, and will not produce as much energy as a large panel on the roof of your house due to energy absorbed through the window. Though an exterior panel would be cheaper and more efficient, it is also exposed to the elements and requires costly mounting. The electroluminescent foil on the inside is a great idea, and an easy lighting solution without requiring extra wiring, and could be seen as a kind of light sculpture. But unfortunately the electroluminescent foil would also add to the price. If price was not an issue in this design, this is definitely the most practical and useful design out of all.

  Really tough choice. I'd buy the Solar blinds in a heart beat. We are building a passively solar designed house and need window treatments. What a great solution..you can keep your house cool while trapping the energy for use later in the day. It would be ingenious to collect the energy in batteries to power the fans that keep your house cool..it's like a perpetual energy loop.

  Blight Solar Blinds get my vote, it's such a universally usable product, everyone has a window or more and hopefully the sun shines into at least one of them. If I could power the electricity in my own home from blinds in my windows, it would seem like such a sustainable cycle. For those of us who are renters and don't have access to roofs for Solar Panels or Rooftop Gardens, this seems like a small, simple, magical step we can take towards sustainability.

  The indoor drying rack is amaizing. First is low-tech but complete designed. then can provide a cool bamboo design to a wall. Finally it moves to transform itself. You dry your clothes in a old fashioned way but you are doin it without energy well, you are using the natural flow of energy and its a good activity the old fashioned way.

  I don't own any of those green gadgets but if I would buy any of them it would be the power hog. I've never thought of something like that, I would plug one of those on every electronic in the house. Want toast, yeah? fifty cents. want to watch an hour of tv, yeah? two dollars. If It was up to me i'd permanently fix one of these to every plug in america. We already pay for our electricity why not make it more of a direct experience. Alternatively A little counter on each plug that monitored electricity in dollars with a credit card slot to pay for it would make every one more energy conscious, I think. Monitoring electricity in money it such a great concept. :)

  I really like the idea of the Tweet a Watt Energy Monitor because I don’t think any of us actually know how much energy we are actually using so this could be a fantastic wake up call. However, this has to be sent to a computer-does this computer have to be plugged in and using energy? There could be a better alternative, but the idea is there and I like it. There has to be something to make us, as consumer, realize how much energy we are using, and exactly how much we can save by just unplugging ONE item and leaving it unplugged for a day, a week or a month. We need to have someone do some calculations, people see numbers and then it makes sense…money talks! HOWEVER, I think the Bright Solar Blinds are a KEEPER because they require absolutely NO energy and will soak up renewable energy.. They could be aesthetically pleasing and give back…a win win!

I idea of being able to use on-site renewable energy to power small electronics makes so much sense...and here in Arizona, where I live, the solar charger would be extremely useful.   I NEED the indoor drying rack. The dryer in my apartment building doesn't work that well, so I usually end up air drying my clothes anyway. The indoor drying rack is not only aesthetically pleasing but super functional, and it's made from natural and sustainable materials. If I had one of these I would save money and time by not using the dryer, use less energy, and finally have a place to hang my clothes while they dry. As soon as they are available, I will be ordering one!

  I love the indoor drying rack. As an abstract artist, I appreciate the minimalist design - this is certainly not something I would feel needed to be hidden away in a closet when not in use! The environmental benefits are really too numerous to list: it would enable me to reduce my carbon footprint by not having to use the dryer and would definitely extend the life of my garments.

  I think the Hymini sloar/wind charger is ideal for my week-long trip to the desert in August, as well as many other times, because I have a lot of small electrical charging needs. It is environmentally ingenious and I need to get one of these!
