Born out of a bit of boredom right before a Thursday lunch rush, the delectable pizza receptacle is made out of two square Sicilian-style pies that are large enough to completely envelop a regular-sized round pizza. Berthiaume explained to PIX11 that he came up with the idea after seeing how wasteful regular pizza containers can be.
“Sometimes I get a little bit upset when customers ask for a box and then they sit down and eat the pizza and then they throw away the box right away,” he told PIX11. “So that kind of clicked…something in my brain that I was like maybe I can just make a pizza box that they can eat.”

Customers at Vinnie’s can order up edible pizza boxes for sit-in dining for $40 (including the pizza that’s housed inside). For takeout and delivery, Vinnie’s does wrap their edible pizza boxes in (non-edible) foil for hygiene and food safety purposes, but the resulting refuse is still noticeably less than using an entire cardboard box.
