by , 03/09/08

Ashley Watson, Ashley Watson leather bags, leather bags made from recycled leather jackets, recycling leather jackets, recycled leather handbags, sustainable style, eco-fashion, eco accessories, eco totes, recycled leather wallets, Spring 2008 eco fashion, Murre Plover, Kaight, NYC, Kaightshop

We are big fans of designer Ashley Watson‘s recycled leather bags, and even though we have featured her designs before, we wanted to provide some exclusive coverage on her hip and luscious Spring 2008 collection, ‘Murre + Plover’. Despite the name, these accessories are ‘not just for the birds’, as their original, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship totally sets them apart in their multi-seasonal wearability and trend-defying style. Vancouver-based designer Watson handcrafts her one-of-a-kind products from soft, pre-worn leather jackets that she rescues from charity thrifts stores.

wow, really really lovely. she clearly is an artist with a great eye. judging by the colors and details, it would seem that many of the jackets may never have been fashionably wearable, and extremely dated. as purses designed with an artist’s touch, they will never go out of style, and the already-processed materials won’t be going to waste.
