The idea behind the hotel is to provide a place where visitors can get away from the stress of their busy lives and come live in harmony with nature. Located inside a boreal forest, four of the six treehouse rooms have been completed, along with the TreeSauna, and the remaining two rooms are anticipated to be ready soon. Open all year, the Treehotel welcomes visitors to experience the long sunny days of the summer and the beautiful, snowy landscape of winter.
Inspiration for the Treehotel came from the documentary film “Trädälskaren” (Treelover) by Jonas Selberg Augustsen. It is the story of three men from the city who want to get back to their roots by building a tree house together. Each tree room was designed and built by a different architect and is sublimely unique. Built primarily using locally-sourced wood, the rooms are accessible by ramps or study ladders, and each includes radiant floor heating, a state-of-the-art eco-friendly incineration toilet, and a water-efficient hand basin.
