HUDSON RIVER PARK

For the bold and the brave willing to stand the ginormous crowds on the 4th, the piers at Hudson River Park are one of your best bets to watch spectacular views of the fireworks show. Access points will be stationed along 11th Avenue and run between 24th and 57th Streets. For a complete list of access points click here. Keep in mind that parking will not be available so it’s probably best to leave your car at home and travel by bus or train.

RIVERSIDE PARK

If you’re not too keen on doing the tango with thousands of strangers crowding the pier to watch the show, try heading uptown to the more spacious Riverside Park. You’ll be able to see a view of the fireworks that isn’t as intense as those in Midtown but with a little more elbow room. Riverside Park’s opening is accessible on 72nd Street and the Hudson River near the West Side Highway.

YOTEL

TRANSMITTER PARK

Outer boroughs are often left out of seeing the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show from the comforts of their own neighborhoods. Good news for Brooklynites not wanting to trek over the bridge for the festivities, Transmitter Park offers a great escape along the Greenpoint waterfront overlooking the Manhattan skyline for a partial view of the show.

MAXWELL PLACE PARK

If you’re looking to switch things up this year, why not hop over to Jersey for a change of pace? Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken rests along the waterfront offering equally spectacular views of the light show to come. Hop the 126 bus at Port Authority Bus Terminal to Hoboken. After a 15 minute ride you’ll get off at Washington Street and 12th St and arrive a short distance away from the park.

JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS

Jersey City is the kissing cousin to Hoboken and has incredible bird’s-eye views of the fireworks. You can take the PATH train from the Manhattan to 9th Street in Hoboken and follow the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway path to Jersey City (a few blocks in length). Try not to veer too far into the Exchange Place area though. The plethora of tall buildings won’t give you much luck in watching the fireworks show.
