When thinking about what the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/futuristic-farm-house-designed-to-collect-rainwater-and-shelter-migrant-workers/">home of the future</a> looks like, we're pretty certain <a href="http://inhabitat.com/electricfied-tron-legacy-inspired-icehotel-suite-in-sweden/">neon</a> is most definitely going to be involved. Apparently LAVA had the same idea, except they're placing the home inside of a giant <a href="http://inhabitat.com/the-ec-cocoon-is-a-bubble-shaped-low-energy-geodesic-home/">geodesic bubble</a> enclosure filled with beautiful gardens and water features. <a href="http://l-a-v-a.blogspot.com/2011/02/lava-on-show-at-new-exhibition-home.html">LAVA’s Home of the Future</a> is a showcase for ultramodern living with man, nature and technology in harmony and is actually going to be built in late 2011 on a rooftop of a new furniture mall in Beijing, China.

The home is set inside a geodesic skydome made out of ETFE bubbles and will create a year-round microclimate for the gardens contained inside.

A series of living zones are spread throughout the enclosure and surrounded by the gardens enjoying abundant daylighting, fresh air and a quiet repose away from the city noise.

Visitors to the mall will be able to tour the futuristic home and the 15 different living spaces that include internal/external bathroom zones, kitchens flowing to veggie patches, barbecues and sunken bedrooms with ‘dream inducing lighting’.

Inspired by nature's efficiencies like coral, cells and bubbles, the home is an environment where technology is invisibly integrated to satisfy every day needs.

As the sun goes down, the home and the tropical garden turn into an electric experience, with a vein-like lighting system illuminating the space, plants and bubble enclosure.

Chris Bosse, Director of LAVA says: “The Home of the Future acts as a metaphor for the questions of our times, our relationship with nature, with technology and with ourselves.”
