Mode.Lina Quotel hotelThe enormous Poznan International Fair, which is the biggest industrial fair in Poland, draws over 13,000 exhibitors alone, but there often isn't enough lodging in the city to accommodate them all. That's why architects Jerzy Wozniak and Pawel Garus decided to solve the city’s sold-out hotel problems by creating a pop-up hotel in an unoccupied apartment building. On a very tight budget, the team created Quotel, a comfortable temporary hotel, using inexpensive furniture and recycled elements.1
Mode.Lina Quotel HotelQuotel looks anything but budget. The team, who operate under the name Mode:Lina Architektura and Consulting, has created a custom high-end looking space, with their limited budget.2

Mode:Lina also used low cost plywood to build furnishings, shelving, benches and dividers, which can easily be removed and re-used, or scrapped.3

Mode.Lina-quotel5Recycled shelves and second hand furniture also add to the character of Quotel, without constraining their costs. Being an unoccupied apartment, there are common areas such as a living room and a kitchen, which guests are encouraged to use.5
Mode.Lina Quotel HotelTo continue with the custom feel, Mode:Lina added quirky sayings to a wall in each room. “A big blanket makes a person sleep late.” Is printed across one of the guest rooms that includes two twin beds, while “Are you hungry?” greets guests on their way to the kitchen.6
