The Sommarhus Akenine facade is clad in strips of Siberian larch that have been planed and treated for a smoother and more uniform appearance. The elevated terrace floor wraps around the structure to create a porch that’s partially protected from the elements by the roof overhang. Generous floor-to-ceiling glazing on the south side opens the interior up to views of the Baltic Sea, while smaller glazing strips on the shaded northern side face the forest.

The home’s long rectangular floor plan sandwiches the main living spaces between the children bedrooms to the west and the guest room and master bedroom to the east. Although the interior features a more vibrant multicolored palette than the monochromatic facade, it was also designed with a minimalist aesthetic. Light-colored timber floors and whitewashed walls create a clean impression indoors.
