“The cabin is inspired by the classic image of a snowbound cabin with only the roof exposed above the snow,” the designers write on their website. “By extending the gables all the way down to the ground, the cabin becomes part of the snowy landscape.”

And though the alpine cabin is small, the uplifts – combined with ample natural light permitted by strategically-located windows – create the sensation of an expansive space. On a clear night, either from the mezzanine or the bedroom, occupants are free to watch the dancing northern lights and stars – further anchoring themselves in this special place. As for the kids, they will particularly enjoy the pseudo ski ramps when there’s sufficient snowfall to pad their moves.
