The red brick-clad home majestically sits at the foot of a long country lane with uninterrupted views of the lush greenery and expansive fields. The three-bedroom home is topped with a dramatically sloping roof covered with clay tiles meant to enhance the character of a traditional old farmhouse. An inviting timber porch leads into the open concept interior living and dining area. On the interior, a large floor-to-ceiling window sits on the northwest wall, allowing for enviable views of the natural scenery that surrounds the home. A glazed corridor was also installed at the back of the home, connecting the property to an existing barn used as storage.

Throughout the design and construction process, the architects’ main focus was to give the home a traditional, but elegant look that combines the local heritage with modern amenities, “The connecting element has been rendered in glass and wooden components to form a kind of transition between the old and new vocabulary,” explained architect Pieter Bedaux.
