The Lorraine offers all the comforts of home in a small 160-square-foot footprint. Built in about four weeks at the East Boston Shipyard, the tiny house operates totally off-grid and is equipped with solar energy, two-burner propane stove, and a closed water system with a composting toilet. Like all of the Getaway houses, the modern timber cabin comes stocked with provisions (food and snacks), a classic Coleman cooler, bicycles, board games, and some light reading.

The simple yet cozy open-plan interior sandwiches the kitchen, dining, and living area between the queen-size bed on one end and the bathroom on the other end. An eye-level ribbon window that runs almost the entire length of one side of the house frames views of the outdoors and brings natural light inside. A continuous work surface beneath the long window spans the kitchen and bedroom.
