JDS Architects are known for building incredible green structures all over the world, however their latest project is their first in Lille, France - and the new building is certain to become an architectural benchmark for the up-and-coming modern city. JDS will combine Lillie's spirit, youth and commerce in a show-stopping, multi-use geometric hub located in the heart of the city. The trilateral building will contain a youth hostel, kindergarten, offices, and a bevy of green features including solar panels, roof gardens, and recycled materials.

Lille has been developing more and more into a destination city for both business and leisure . The JDS Youth Center reflects this constant growth not only with its dedication to the younger populous but also in it's rising design that lifts the building off the ground in each corner toward the sky.

The raised corners, illuminated by LED lights in the evening, allow for public gathering places that integrate the building with its surrounding environment and passersby.

Organized around a massive courtyard, the three sections of the triangle building each feature a roof that serves as an integral part of its sustainability.

The kindergarten roof is a vegetated garden area with a grassy play surface that helps cool the building.

The youth hostel features a number of walk out balconies made of recycled timber, keeping construction costs low and local.

Finally, the office roof is fitted with solar panels to help power the electric functions of the building. Floor to ceiling windows in the offices also allow for natural light and ventilation to flow through the building.
