Moooi’s Brilliant Heracleum II Chandelier Blossoms with LED Leaves

  • MOOOI's LED Heracleum lamp
    <a href="http://www.moooi.com/" target="_blank">Moooi</a> just unveiled its gorgeous new <a href="http://www.moooi.com/products/heracleum-2">Heracleum II chandelier</a>, which is blossoms with dozens of low-energy <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/led/">LED</a> leaves. The hanging lamp was designed by <a title="MOOOI's Brilliant LED Heracleum II Chandelier Sparkles at ICFF 13" href="http://inhabitat.com/bertjan-pots-rope-masks-are-both-beautiful-and-terrifying/" target="_blank">Bertjan Pot</a> and it incorporates Mooi's "Electro Sandwich" technology, which enables the LEDs to draw low-voltage current from the frame without the need for extra wires.     Inspired by the <a title="MOOOI's Brilliant LED Heracleum II Chandelier Sparkles at ICFF 13" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heracleum_(plant)" target="_blank">Heracleum plant</a> (aka Cow Parsnip), Moooi's new chandelier branches out from a central core, and each stem ends in a set of shining LED "leaves."

    The lamp's structure is coated with conductive layers that allow it to carry a low-voltage (safe to touch) current to the LED leaves, eliminating the need for wires.

    Heracleum II comes in two different sizes and it makes a great new addition to MOOOI's family of products.

    MOOOI was founded back in 2001 by Casper Vissers and renowned Dutch designer <a title="MOOOI's Brilliant LED Heracleum II Chandelier Sparkles at ICFF 13" href="http://www.marcelwanders.com/" target="_blank">Marcel Wanders</a>. Its name comes from the Dutch word “beautiful”, with an extra “O” added for an “extra value in terms of beauty and uniqueness”.
