There are smart meters for your heating and air conditioning, but until now, there isn’t been one for your water heater. Heating your water is actually the second biggest use of power in the home – more than lighting, cooking and entertainment electronics combined. That’s why the people at Amphiro created the Amphiro B1, the follow-up to the hit A1. By using the B1, the average household saves $140 in power costs and 2,250 gallons of water per year. The device connects via bluetooth so you can monitor your usage and even challenge yourself or others in your home to reduce consumption. The project is seeking funding right now at Kickstarter where you can preorder yours at a reduced price.
