Dutch designer Richard Hutten just unveiled his new Layers Cloud Chair, which is set to debut at the 2014 Milan Furniture Fair. The chair is made entirely from Kvadrat’s multicolored Divina fabric, and it was inspired by rock pigments at the Painted Desert in Arizona. The soft and comfy seat is made from a whopping 545 stacked layers!
To make the Layers Cloud Chair, Hutten and his team had to draw each layer, cut them out one by one with a CNC machine, and assemble them by hand. The striking seat is made from roughly 100 different shades of material, which gives it an engaging visual and physical texture. The Layers Cloud Chair will be shown at the Kvadrat’s Divina exhibition during this year’s Milan Design Week, do don’t miss it if you are around!
