pcb creationsIt seems like every day technology becomes more and more compact - and users are constantly discarding their old, clunky gadgets for tiny new ones. With outdated devices becoming obsolete, people are finding new and interesting opportunities to recycle their tech toys of the past. New Jersey-based computer and electronics repairman Steven Rodrig created this amazing toilet sculpture aptly titled "Royal Data Throne" and many other pieces out of salvaged printed circuit boards and electronics. His eco-friendly sculptures, called PCB Creations, have caught the eye of tech geeks, environmentalists, and even the New York art world.1
pcb creationsAfter years of being surrounded by computers, Rodrig discovered something beautiful about the old circuit boards constantly being discarded around him. He could no longer stand the disposal of these aesthetically perfect pieces of technology that simply didn't function.2
pcb creationsHe began molding them into small, simple ornaments and soon began creating large and intricate sculptures. His pieces range from creepy bugs to sprawling landscapes, inanimate objects, and furnishings.3
pcb creationsRodrig's sculptures are not only aesthetically unique, but are coupled with clever tech titles such as "Sea Turtle Searches for Deep Data" and Hummingbird Senses Sweet Data."4
pcb creationsRodrig has experienced success and notoriety in technological and environmental circuits, being featured as an innovator on geek.com.5
pcb creationsHis sculptures have even crossed over into high art, recently being included in an international juried sculpture exhibition at Rogue Space in New York and permanently exhibited in the online collection of Manhattan Arts International.6
pcb creationsHis sculptures can be found on Etsy.com ranging from $25.00 Christmas ornaments to a $3,500 post-apocalyptic helmet. And though the toilet is nearly life-size, it is only for the discarding of data waste.7
