UK-based Studio Wave created this magical timber hut for holding a variety of sustainable craft workshops within Dartford Central Park’s Ecology Island. Made from local materials and decorated with the help of local residents and graphic designer studio Nous Vous, the ‘Ecology of Colour’ shelter will hold activities ranging from natural dyeing to bird watching, drawing and candle making.

A tree house and park shelter all in one, the Ecology of Colour pavilion has two floors and many windows that open wide onto the landscape. The colorful cladding was conceived by graphic studio Nous Vous and it was created by local residents through a series of workshops to provide a foundation for future activities.

The building opened just a few months ago, but the designers are already working with a group of horticulturists to create a garden full of native plants for extracting natural pigments (including Golden Rod for yellow, Alder for red and Bugloss for blue), celebrating nature and color in a fun, inclusive way.
