Saugerties Lighthouse Hudson RiverAs spring re-emerges, the historic Saugerties Lighthouse is an easy and beautiful retreat for New Yorkers to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and reconnect with nature. Built in 1869, guests can enjoy a unique overnight stay in the Lighthouse’s Bed and Breakfast, set on gorgeous grounds along the Hudson River. The two-bedroom accommodations offer a secluded and tranquil break, with a green modern twist: the lighthouse's beacon runs on solar power.1

Soon, the original rectangular lighthouse was replaced by the present lighthouse, which is hugged by the quaint brick home that now operates as the Bed & Breakfast.2
Saugerties LighthouseAfter falling into disrepair in the 1950s, the Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy was finally formed in 1985, which restored the building to its original splendor. With help from the Coast Guard, the lighthouse was put back into commission with a solar-powered beacon in August of 1990.3
