Urban Reserve is a modern sustainable community situated on fourteen hilly acres of land on the urban edge of Dallas. Envisioned as “a neighborhood where the common thread between residents is a passion for modern architecture“, the 50-home planned development requires that all homes are at least 20% more efficient than the acceptable city code and features two retention ponds (rain gardens) that collect water to irrigate the neighborhood landscape. Narrow streets provide a traffic calming effect and encourage residents to head out on foot to the nearby Dart Station. Architect Vincent Snyder added to the development with his beautiful Chris-Craft house, bringing the modern aesthetic of the Urban Reserve to Life.
Influenced by an American Icon, the Chris-Craft Boat, Snyder’s stunning 3 bedroom, 3 bath home is move-in ready and chock-full of energy efficient appliances. Hiding underground is a high-efficiency Geo-Thermal HVAC system and all of the house’s hot water is heated by on-demand systems. All windows in the house feature low-E glazing, and there is a trough and cistern system that collects rainwater for landscape irrigation. More than half of the lots in the Urban Reserve have been sold and notable architects are coming on board. Neighboring homes include equally stunning designs from the likes of Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, KieranTimberlake, and more.
