In light of the fact that the Prefab Now event is wrapping up today in Los Angeles, we thought it was a good time to highlight one of prefab architecture’s original purveyors.
You can’t talk about modernist prefab without reference to Jennifer Siegal’s Office of Mobile Design. OMD was one of the original peddlers of stylish prefab architecture, and with ten years of experience, the company knows its way around of prefab design and construction.

Portable Home, and most recently, the
Take Home, OMD’s prefab designs combine earth-friendly technologies with cost-efficient prefabrication methods. Althogh the designs are ‘green’ which isn’t saying much these days since we have 21 story atriums in public office buildings that are green buildings and passive solar, heathing and cooling. makes me think…? When will we actually see neo-pre-fab mobile housing-design? Ijust want to know where is the focus. Southern california-Mexico is the perfect launch pad for truly mobile design-so lets have it OMD. Or will we still depend on the Ford company to design a repeat of the airstream, I luv Lucy and cherry pie?
