The world is a more colorful place thanks to Okuda San Miguel . The Madrid-based artist transforms everyday spaces into breathtaking, vibrant environments that completely altering our relationship to them. We loved his murals that helped turn an aging church into an edgy skate park, but this new project blows our mind. He took over an entire building in Hong Kong, a dull and depressing space, and transformed it into a massive work of kaleidoscopic art in just four days.
Okuda created the mural for the HKWalls Street Art Festival, Hong Kong‘s annual street art gathering designed to create opportunities for local and international artists to showcase their work. The Spanish muralist covered a facade of a 12-story building in a fantastic animal-themed artwork. His distinctive style, with geometric prints and bold use of color, breathe new life into the neighborhood. It took about four days to complete the large piece.
Okuda creates illustrations, murals, posters, tapestries and art installations that are visually consistent by also drawing inspiration from the environment. His work explores concepts such as freedom, identity, capitalism and roots.
