For those looking for affordable standing desk options, this one is $49.99 and features hidden storage as well as shelves for printers and other accessories.
In order to incorporate the most forward-thinking ideas into the new line, IKEA reached out to 14 young designers from all around the world to come up with designs for the collection. The exercise resulted in a wide range of creative solutions, from a cabinet that fits perfectly into hard-to-utilize corners to a standing storage solution that requires no drilling into walls to a hall console that folds out to become a desk.
“At IKEA, our consumer is the inspiration behind our designs. Globally, we found that young people are looking to use every inch of their home effectively,” says Peter Klinkert, Head of Special Collections for IKEA of Sweden. “With IKEA PS 2014, we worked to create pieces that keep multifunction and small space living at the core.”
