The NoMad, which sits at the corner of Broadway and 28th Street, is an adaptive reuse project that brings a luxury destination to a previously unactivated area between Herald Square and the Flatiron district. The property boasts hotel rooms with real New York character, as well as amenities like a classic cocktail bar, a lounge with fireplace, fine dining, and a green roof space with views of neighboring historic buildings.

The sustainable features of the NoMad include the sustainable reuse of the existing walls and floors, as well as reclaimed wood for additional flooring. Occupancy sensors keep energy usage low in guest rooms, activating electricity only when guests have returned to their rooms. High efficiency window and HVAC equipment, dual-flush toilets and water loop heat pumps keep rooms comfortable in a non-wasteful way. A green operations and maintenance plan throughout the hotel also helps to reduce toxins and chemicals on a day to day basis.

Stonehill & Taylor are also responsible for five other LEED projects in New York, adding the NoMad to their roster of sustainable architecture.
