Resource Furniture brought Hotel Resource to New York to show that even tiny accommodations can be comfortable and utilitarian spaces. While the exhibit looked like a typical hotel room (minus the bed) at first glance, we were impressed to see what the 240-square-foot unit had up its sleeve.
Guests at the booth were greeted by an over-sized table of mimosas that you typically wouldn’t be able to find in a smaller hotel room. With enough room and chairs to seat six or to spread out and finish a big work project, the surface folds up conveniently and back under the Smart Living media center‘s rotating television panel.

While the space was set up as a living area when we first got there, it took just a few moved cushions and a flick of the wrist to flip a spacious queen bed down from the wall. Called the Tango, the sofa/flip-down bed system by Clei even features a locked position shelf that ensures contents do not get disturbed while opening and closing the bed.

The showspace also debuted three pieces from the new Kinetic Collection, a collaboration between Resource Furniture and Brooklyn-based design studio Think Fabricate. Lift is a coffee table with a flip-up top that becomes a work station and hidden storage space for remotes, laptops and magazines. Hide & Seek is a modular, customizable, wall-mounted cabinet system. And finally, Slide is a credenza with a hidden mini fridge and storage drawers. All three pieces are designed and made proudly in Brooklyn.
